Red Devils edge out Shelbyville for Sectional Win

The Red Devils pulled off a first round Sectional win in a exciting and intense football game against the Shelbyville Golden Bears! After falling to Shelbyville earlier this season, the Red Devils were able to redeem the loss with a Sectional win! Richmond came out on top 32-39.

Stats from tonight’s game:

John Carter threw 7/14 for 94 yards, 2 TDS, one 2-point conversion, while carrying the ball 8 times for 53 yards and a rushing TD. Marquis Johnson had three receptions for 19 yards and a TD, one 2PT conversion, while also carrying the ball 11 times for 108 yards and a rushing TD. Johnson also returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. Jayden Shipp caught three receptions for 67 yards. Micah Belcher caught one reception for 8 yards and a TD. Lucas Hall had 7 carries for 63 yards. Jake Haynes was strong on defense with 7 tackles, 3 assists. Both Kenny Cunningham and Bryson Fugate forced fumbles tonight with Demarco Owens and Teles Ortiz recovering them. Hall also kicked off six times for 260, with a 57-yarder as his longest.

Richmond will take on Connersville next Friday at home at 7pm. Richmond defeated Connersville 48-33 on the opening night of the year.
