Centerville traveled to Winchester on Friday night for a Tri-Eastern Conference matchup. Centerville coming in had not won at Winchester under Head Coach Kyle Padgett. Centerville got to work early and never looked back as they defeated the Golden Falcon’s 54-16.
Centerville got things started from the get go as Javontae Pamplin took the opening kickoff 85 yards to the house for a score. After a nice drive put together by the Falcons the Bulldogs forced them to a turnover on downs on the Bulldogs 37 yard line. The Bulldogs then just needed on offensive play to score as Devin Frazier broke free for a 63 yard touchdown run. The next drive for the Falcons did not go as planned as Quarterback Brayden Tippet’s pass was intercepted by Javontae Pamplin and returned 35 yards for the Pick-6. Centerville now led 21-0 as the first quarter expired.
The Falcons however kept battling as they put together a nice drive in the second quarter but was then forced to punt. Centerville was forced to start their drive from their own 27 yard line. Centerville worked their way up the field as their drive was capped off by another long touchdown run by Devin Frazier from 49 yards out. Winchester bounced back the ensuing drive as they put up their first points as Brayden Tippett connected with Paul Welch for a 10 yard touchdown pass. Tippet then rushed in the 2pt conversion making it 28-8, Bulldogs. Centerville responded their next drive marching down the field putting across another touchdown, as Jamari Pamplin rushed his first touchdown in from 8 yards out. The Bulldogs two point conversion was not good. Winchester tried putting drive together at the end of the second quarter, but ran out of time taking it to the break where the Bulldogs led the Falcons 34-8.
Winchester received the kickoff to start the second half. This was a big drive for the Falcons as they needed to put points across to keep themselves in this matchup. Winchester did just that as they marched down the field a put up a touchdown as Brayden Tippett connected with Brooks Burelison for a 8 yard touchdown pass. Maddox Rose then rushed it in for the 2pt conversion as the Falcons now trailed Centerville 34-16. The factor here for the Falcons was they ate up a good chunk of the third quarter on this drive. The clock was not in their favor. Centerville added to their lead on their next drive as Jamari Pamplin took his second touchdown to the house from 48 yards out. This led us to the end of the third quarter where the Bulldogs had the advantage 41-16.
The Bulldogs added to their lead early in the fourth quarters as Jamari Pamplin broke another big touchdown run this one from 50 yards out giving the Bulldogs the 47-16 lead before Jake Erbse added the PAT. The clock was ticking away for the Falcons, as they were looking to try and get some more points on the board. The Bulldogs forced them to punt again with right around 4 minutes left in the game. The Bulldogs put together a drive in the final minutes that was capped off by a 8 yard touchdown run by Jake Tinkle. Centerville took their 54-16 lead to the final horn.
Centerville was led on offense by Jamari Pamplin who had 16 carries for 210 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Devin Frazier rushed for 123 yards on 4 carries and 2 touchdowns. Jake Tinkle finished with 1 carry for 8 yards and touchdown. Centerville’s Defense was led by Jake Crowe with 14 tackles, Colin Clark with 11 tackles, Devin Frazier with 10 tackles, Zach Thompson with 10 tackles, and Bryce Robertson with 9 tackles. Javontae Pamplin had himself a day on defense with a pick-6 and a kick return for a touchdown.
Centerville is now 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in the TEC. Centerville will be at home next week when they host Tri-High at 7pm on September 17th. Winchester will fall to 1-3 on the year, they will travel to Union County next Friday.
