The Lincoln Lady Eagles Volleyball team stunned the Blue River Lady Vikings on Thursday night in exciting fashion. The student and fan turnout at Lincoln was huge with the unveiling of the new court at the Eagles Nest. The student section brought the fuel the Lady Eagles needed to pick up the 3-1 victory.
Things started started slow for Lincoln as the Lady Vikings took the opening set 25-16. Coach Seidner rallied his girls after set one as Lincoln came out with more energy feeding off the crowd to gain a set two win 25-17. Lincoln’s Mia Cupp and Emily Cox were attacking at the net, and pounding the ball into the court. Lady Vikings were looking for an answer but could not find in set two. Lincoln then capitalized with their depth as the 6-girl rotation for the Lady Vikings was becoming a factor. Fatigue was setting in. Mallory Burns made some great defensive plays, and some great points coming from Macie Hawk and Kaila Arthur helped lead the charge again in the third set. Taking set three 25-14 put the Lady Eagles in full control with the hometown crowd on their side. Things changed in set four as Blue River came out strong looking to force the important set five. The defensive effort from all of the Lady Eagles was there. They made some minor young mistakes, but capitalized in the critical situation giving them the set four win in exciting fashion 26-24. Lincoln took the matchup in an upset win over Blue River 3-1.
