A chilly rainy Saturday morning in Dublin, Indiana the host of the 2021 Wayne County Softball Tourney. Things started well for the Lady Eagles as they pounded seven runs across in the first inning and the never looked back defeating Centerville 12-7. The Lady Bulldogs tried to climb their way back into this one, but the early deficit and stellar play from the Lady Eagles defense set the tone.
Allison Frost, Jaela Patton, & Sommer Taylor all had great days at the plate both driving in two runs a piece. Lincoln’s Jaela Patton homered in the first inning off of Centerville’s Harmony Owens to set the tone. Jaela went 3/3 on the day as well. She also pitched four innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and striking out one. Allison Frost went 1/2 and driving in two runs for the Lady Eagles. Sommer Taylor went 3/4 on the day and driving in two as well. The Lady Eagles came to play defensively only committing two errors in their win over Centerville. Lincoln will now take on Northeastern in the 2021 Wayne County Softball Championship Game (Game Date/Time – TBD).
Harmony Owens led the way for the Lady Bulldogs going 2/2 with a double and 2 runs batted in. Harmony pitched 4 innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs, and striking out four. Jade Hill also went 2/4 at the dish and scoring three runs. Bri Shepherd went 1/4 on the day with a double and driving in a run. Centerville now falls to 4-5 on the year and will look to bounce things back on Monday when they travel to take on the Lady Panthers of Knightstown.
