The big day for Desmond Bane is now complete after being drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 30th pick in the NBA Draft. Boston proposed a trade to the Memphis Grizzlies where Bane will end up. Bane now takes his career into the NBA where he will look to continue to prove doubters wrong.
Desmond Bane graduated from Seton Catholic High School (Richmond, Indiana) in 2016. Bane averaged 24.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.9 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game in his career at Seton Catholic. Bane led the Cardinals to 3 straight Sectional Championships (13-14, 14-15, 15-16).
Bane then took his talents to Texas Christian University (TCU) where he became a big part of their success in his four years. Bane became a two-time All-Big 12 selection during his four seasons. Bane turned a lot of heads his way after an impressive senior season where he averaged 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.5 steals on the season. Bane also shot 54.2% from two, 43.3% from three, and 80.4% from the stripe in his four seasons at TCU.
Bane will join the Memphis Grizzlies after going through the NBA’s trade processing. Memphis went 34-39 last season and finished 9th in the Western Conference. Bane will join Ja Morant and company as the Memphis Grizzlies look to continue the rebuild. The 2020-2021 NBA Season will begin in December with training camps starting just around the corner!
