On Thursday night, another Wayne County rivalry TEC matchup took place at Northeastern High School as the Lady Knights hosted the Lincoln Lady Eagles.
The Lincoln Lady Eagles played tough all night long, but it was the Lady Knights taking the contest 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-12, 25-22).
The Lady Eagles were led on the night by Emily Cox with 8 kills, 11 digs, and 2 blocks, Mallory Burns with 5 kills and 13 digs, Olivia Spurgin with 15 assists, and Kaila Arthur wth 5 aces.
This loss moves the Lady Eagles to 7-15 on the season and 2-6 in the TEC. Lincoln will be back in action on Tuesday at Blue River when they take on Randolph Southern in the first round of Sectionals.
Northeastern moves to 14-11 on the year and 6-2 in the TEC. The Lady Knights flipped the script from a season ago under new Head Coach Katie Hampton. Last year the Lady Knights finished 3-18 overall and 1-6 in the TEC. The Lady Knights made a statement this year, and look potentially as early conference favorites for the 2021 Volleyball Season. The Lady Knights will take on Centerville in Sectionals next Thursday. Northeastern leads the season advantage 2-1 over the Bulldogs.
Northeastern JV defeated Lincoln JV 2-0 (25-18, 25-16). Lincoln JV was led by Paige Lunsford with 4 kills and 2 aces, Nevaeh Walton with 7 digs, and Isabella Renaud with 6 assists and 6 digs.
