On Thursday night the Centerville Lady Bulldogs hosted the Hagerstown Lady Tigers in a huge TEC matchup. The Lady Tigers were looking to clinch a share of the TEC crown, while the Lady Bulldogs were looking to make a statement as they towards Sectionals.
Right out of the gate we had a nail biter in Set 1. Both teams trading points back and forth all set long. Lady Bulldogs battled thick pulling away in a tight one 27-25. Centerville then responded in Set 2 in full control as they took the set 25-17. Centerville led 2-0, and really put Hagerstown on their heels. Hagerstown Senior Ashley Vinson fired up her girls in the huddle as they came out with an answer in Sets 3 and 4 taking them both 25-14. Then came the biggest set of the night. Set 5 started with a bang as both teams traded points early. It was then when the Lady Bulldogs started to build a lead and looked to put the win in the bag. The Lady Tigers dragged it out fighting hard, but it was Centerville taking Set 5 with a score of 15-10 and the matchup 3-2!
Centerville was led on the night by Senior Skyler Murray. Skyler had 16 kills, 11 digs, 3 aces. Kate Wilson also had a good night for the Lady Bulldogs as she had 11 kills and 2 aces. Lilly Waters also had a busy night as she finished with 39 assists.
Centerville now moves to 13-10 on the year as they steer their direction to next weeks Sectional contest with Northeastern (14-11). Northeastern holds the season advantage on the Bulldogs 2-1, but the Lady Bulldogs took the most recent matchup 3-1!
Hagerstown (19-7) will turn their attention to Knightstown (18-9) in next weeks Sectional. Hagerstown defeated Knightstown earlier in the season 3-0!
Hagerstown JV defeated Centerville JV 2-1 (24-25, 25-19, 15-11). Lady Bulldogs JV were led by Gracie Goodman and Ava McCurdy both with 4 kills, and Elly Waters with 13 assists and 2 aces.
