The Centerville Bulldogs won their season opener against the Lincoln Golden Eagles with a score of 48-6 on Friday night.
The defense for the Bulldogs started the game with a bang forcing a fumble and a punt in the Eagles first two drives. The Bulldogs capitalized on their second drive when Jamari Pamplin rushed for a 23 yard touchdown. The Bulldogs defense then forced another Eagles punt, which was then blocked, and returned to the Eagles five yard line. Javontae Pamplin then took that one in for the Bulldogs from five yards out. This brought us to the end of the first quarter where the Bulldogs led 14-0.
The second quarter the Bulldogs pressed down on the gas and never looked back. The Bulldogs scored 34 points in the quarter. It was led off by Ryan Dickenson’s 22 yard touchdown run. Followed by the Bulldogs defense forcing another Eagle turnover. The next play from scrimmage Dickenson rolled out and hit Keegan Schlotterbeck for a 35 yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs defense then turned the Eagles over on downs. Ryan Dickenson then found Keegan Schlotterbeck again for a 28 yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs lead was now 34-0. The Bulldogs defense then came up big again forcing another Eagles punt. The Bulldogs then put a solid drive together, and capped it off with another 33 yard touchdown pass from Dickenson to Schlotterbeck. The Bulldogs defense again shut down the Eagles offense forcing another four and out. From there, the offense did its job again setting up Dickenson for a 10 yard scamper for a score. The Bulldogs took a 48-0 lead into halftime.
The Eagles offense finally got some momentum going in the third quarter. It led to an Alex Hokey 55 yard touchdown run. This gave Lincoln their first points for the 2020 football season. The point differential and running clock, however were to much for the Eagles to overcome in the second half. The Bulldogs took this match-up with a 48-6 final.
The Bulldogs (1-0) will be back in action next Friday night as they will host the Hagerstown Tigers (0-1). The Tigers are coming in off of a tough loss to Knightstown. The Eagles (0-1) will travel to Union County (1-0) next Friday for another TEC match-up. Union County is coming off a big win against Northeastern 53-15. The Eagles defeated the Patriots last season 19-14!
